Igor Omura Fraga is the second driver confirmed by team DR Formula by RP Motorsport for the Formula Regional European Championship 2019 campaing.
The 20-year-old Japanese-borned Brazilian racer will regularly enter all the races of the “certified by FIA” series, driving a car in the iconic Gran Turismo logo. Last year, Fraga won the FIA Gran Turismo Nation’s Cup.
Winner of the McLaren Shadow Project, having beaten more than 500,000 contestants, Fraga became the champion and earned a seat in the eSports Formula One development programme.
From virtual racing to the real world… After starting his career in karting in 2002, when he was only three years old, Fraga stepped up to F3 Brazil claiming the Academy title in 2017. Last season he raced in the American USF2000 Championship taking three podium finishes.
This year the young Brazilian makes his debut in the European single-seater series aiming to the top spot with the team led by Danilo Rossi – for whom he already raced several seasons in kart – and Fabio Pampado.
In the same squad Fraga joins Mexican Raul Guzman, one of the front-runners in the Winner testing.
