DR Formula by RP Motorsport’s driver Igor Omura Fraga secured two top-five finish in race one and two as the Formula Regional European series headed this weekend to the Mugello circuit.
The 21-year-old Brazilian, after setting the fourth and fifth best lap-time in the yesterday’s qualifying, ended the first race on P5. Having a great start in race two, Fraga moved soon to second. Eventually a broken flap front wing prevented him to grab a podium spot. Anyhow, taking again a fifth place, he recovered points on David Schumacher in the battle for the overall standings.
Starting from the sixth row of the grid, his team-mate Raul Guzman claimed a top-ten result in race one. Then the young Mexican strategically used old tires in race two, saving the new ones for Sunday’s race three and finising on 12.
In the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth, his country-fellow Santiago Ramos claimed a best P20 in race one, as he improved well during all the weekend.
Italian F4 race three will get underway tomorrow at 11.20, whilst the last race of the Formula Regional European series start is scheduled at 13.05.
