After claiming his second victory of the season in race one at Imola, Igor Omura Fraga completed the fifth out of eight Formula Regional European Championship taking two more podium finishes. The DR Formula by RP Motorsport’s driver ended the weekend in perfect style scoring 73 points to move up to third in the Drivers’ standings.
The 20-year-old Brazilian, who was already a race winner at Red Bull Ring, set the pole position in qualifying one to dominate the first race from lights to flag on Saturday. Eventually he claimed the third position in race two.
The young talented driver finished second in race three by 773 milliseconds, after a battle with his compatriot Enzo Fittipaldi. Race four – that replaced the one of the Vallelunga round – saw Fraga to recover from the fourth row to third.
His team-mate Raul Guzman took the seventh place in race three. Mexican racer endured a difficult race four after a spin and retired. Guzman showed well on Saturday taking in order a fifth and a fourth position in the first two races.
Necomer Santiago Ramos Reynoso completed a growing weekend as he made his single-seater debut in the Italian F4 Championship, taking best 23rd position in the second race. Mexican driver continued his positive apprenticeship in the series.
The next round of the Formula Regional European Championship is scheduled for 21-22 September at the Montmeló circuit, in Spain.
