Raul Guzman made a consistent start to his maiden campaign in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe over the weekend at Misano, where Target Racing‘s driver – along with team-mate Milos Pavlovic – claimed the victory in round one and finished 3rd and 2nd in the Pro class yesterday in the second race.

The 20-year-old Mexican, who has been scouted and promoted by DR Management, delivered the sixth fastest time in the first qualifying session. He went on to take the first stint of the opening race on Saturday night, managing to remain close to the top 5 positions. When the pit-stops began, Guzman handed over the car to Pavlovic. As the order settled the Serbian was third. Eventually he passed Kevin Gilardoni and leader Marcus Paverud to take the first position which he held to the flag, defending hard in the very last lap from the attacks of second placed Kikko Galbiati.

In round two Pavlovic started again from the third row of the grid to move up to P5. He gained the fourth position in the 15th lap and, when the pit window opened, he finished his driving stint on third. Eventually Guzman defended impressively his position from GSM Racing’s car of Cecotto/Liddy to claim a deserved podium finish, scoring big points and mantaining the championship lead.

He absolutely worth it! I knew Raul when he was a child and raced in Usa and Mexico. I have a great relationship with his family“, DR Management boss, Danilo Rossi commented. “He raced kart with our team, making the Formula 4 debut for DR Formula and showing very well in his second season in single-seater. In 2016 he finished third in the Drivers’ standings behind Mick Schumacher. After a couple of years in the Formula Renault Euro, he returned to DR Formula in 2019 entering the Formula Regional championship.

When we planned to debut in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, I obviously thought to him“, Danilo Rossi added. “He has a very fast team-mate to compare himself. Furthermore in team Target Racing he has found Roberto Venieri, whith whom he already worked in Formula 4.

The next round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe is scheduled in less than one month, on the 5th/6th September weekend at the Nürburgring track, in Germany.
