Igor Omura Fraga claimed a sensational lights-to-flag victory at Imola in the Formula Regional European ChampionshipDR Formula by RP Motorsport’s driver dominated the first race of the fifth round of the season after having secured yesterday his maiden pole position.

The 20-year-old Brazilian – who scored his first success in the series one month ago at the Red Bull Ring track – made a great start to take the lead and eventually survived a safety car period, defending in the last laps his position from the attacks of Oliver Caldwell.

Fraga completed his Saturday in a perfect style, claiming a podium finish in Race two as he scored the third place, moving to third also in the Drivers’ standings.

Mexican racer Raul Guzman completed the first part of the weekend scoring in order a fifth and a fourth place. In Race one he started fourth and maintained his position till the safety car, to move down fifth.

In Race two Guzman secured the fourth position behind his team-mate Fraga, taking the third place in the Rookie class.

At Imola the other Mexican racer Santiago Ramos Reynoso made his single-seater debut in the Italian F4 Championship, taking a best 23rd position in the second race and continuing his positive apprenticeship in the series.

Race 3 of the Formula Regional European Championship will start tomorrow at 11.25, followed by the last race of the Italian F4 at 12.20. Live streaming at acisport.it.
