DR Formula’s Artem Petrov made his debut today in in the ADAC F4 championship at the Nürburgring Grand Prix track, taking a P12 finish in a red flagged race one.
The 17-year-old Russian racer, who is one of the front-runners of the Italian series, showed well in qualifying this morning, as he set the 14th quickest lap, only three tenths slower than the pole position, with 17 over 28 drivers in 0.5 seconds.
At the light Petrov recovered two places moving up 12th, before a huge crash occurred to Niklas Nielsen in the opening laps caused a safety car period and then a momentary stop.
At the re-start the DR Formula driver maintained the same position, battling for the top ten spots. Eventually he finished 12th by a slight margin of nine seconds from winner Lirim Zendeli.
With the race two grid determined by the second fastest lap of the qualifying, Petrov will start from P15. Race two begins tomorrow at 11:10. The third and final race of the weekend gets underway at 16:35.
